Journey: Finders Keepers I is a small-scale welded steel sculpture created as part of a group of works for Afatasi’s Finders Keepers event at Indian Basin Waterfront Park. Approximately eight or nine Journey sculptures were placed throughout the park to be discovered and kept by those who found them; this work was retained by the artist. At just 6 1/4 inches high, the sculpture condenses the Journey Series into an intimate form, its sail-like vertical element and rising celestial body suggesting movement, passage, and discovery.
