The Afro Block Party is an original artistic house and intellectual property created by Afatasi that transforms contemporary art into a living cultural universe for children, families, and communities.

Expressed through fine art, public art, illustration, publishing, design, education, storytelling, and collectible objects, it creates joyful entry points into lineage, belonging, imagination, and cultural continuity. Through recurring characters, original narratives, and a distinctive visual language, The Afro Block Party introduces future generations to the histories, traditions, and possibilities of San Francisco’s Great Migration community while inviting them to imagine the futures they will help create.

Created from the belief that children deserve beautiful cultural worlds of their own, The Afro Block Party demonstrates how an original artist-created intellectual property can grow across disciplines while remaining rooted in community, education, and joy.

This Artistic House is one of the Self-Sustaining Practices of The Afatasi Universe, helping sustain its Celestial Calendar through the creation of enduring artworks, intellectual property, and cultural institutions.
