Textile Study I brings welding and sewing together in an early hybrid sculpture. A hand-welded steel stem supports a cluster of sewn and stuffed textile forms, transforming rigid metal into the structure for something soft, botanical, and imagined. The work marks an early exploration of how steel and fabric could coexist within Afatasi’s sculptural language.
