An early sculptural study for Memory Portal: 1945, this hand-welded Memory Tile prototype established elements of the visual language later developed for the site-specific public monument. The work brings together the North Star and Buffalo Soldier motifs through layered salvaged steel and was presented at San Francisco City Hall during the City’s Juneteenth commemoration.
