This piece debuted at London Pacific Islander Fashion Week. It is an example of the Sak Dress, inspired by Afatasi’s experience as an educator and the everyday practice of carrying supplies for students who needed them.
The design centers exaggerated pockets, both practical and sculptural. They reflect Afatasi’s love of pockets as well as observations from life in San Francisco, where people often need to carry their belongings with them. The pockets become more than a functional detail; they speak to care, preparedness, mobility, and the realities of urban life.
