AR STELE PROTOTYPET A COLLECTIVE CULTURAL MEMORY PROJECT
Stele (STEE-LEE, plural stelae): "An upright stone, slab or column, typically bearing a commemorative inscription or relief design, often serving as a grave marker or monument."
(Oxford English Dictionary)
Stelae are a fine-art tradition dating back to ancient civilizations and serve several purposes including: funerary, commemorative, denoting boundary/property lines, and battle memorials.

This groundbreaking exhibition features the innovative collaboration of Master Welder Afatasi alongside digital Augmented Reality (AR) technologist, Sophia Tupuola. Together, they transform reclaimed scrap-steel into monumental stele sculptures inscribed with AR technology.

These interactive markers integrate repurposed steel sculpture and digital storytelling to create an immersive futuristic space where memory, identity, and innovation converge. Visitors are invited to experience a powerful dialogue between history and technology, reimagining the ways we honor collective memory.
